\n
\n
\nLots of ethical\/technical\/political\/racial issues to overcome. eg. Religious groups might not agree with a man taking up a woman's role.
\n
\n
\nThe male might suffer gender identity problems, because the hormone levels during his pregnancy is not natural.
\n
\n
\nIt's dangerous. Assuming that everything goes well in delivery is in phase, removal of the placenta can be fatal because it forms such intimate connections with surrounding vessels that massive hemorrhage is likely.

\nWives can get back at husbands.","dateCreated":"1274765971","smartDate":"May 24, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"QuekKengLiang","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/QuekKengLiang","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"24571509","body":"Pros:
\n
\n1) Male pregnancy might increase birth rate, if the population itself has men which would want to be pregnant.
\n
\n2) Among parents there can be a switch in role - where the husband becomes the main caregiver of the child and the wive will be pursuing her career and provide income for the family.
\n
\nCons:
\n
\n1) There exists a lot of health risks for both the father and the fetus which has a high chance of causing a loss of both lives. Doctors are not worried that men cannot be successfully pregnant, but rather whether the father is able to survive after conceiving.
\n
\n2) The male body is not adapted for pregnancy in the first place, all requirements of pregnancy has to be implanted or orally administered (hormones), this can cause many complications.
\n
\n3) We have to consider the feelings of the child - how would he feel if he was conceived by a man?
\n
\n4) It defies nature, and may encourage science to further experimentations like these which are more "severe", and more widespread of unnecessary unrest.","dateCreated":"1274767086","smartDate":"May 24, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Jiehui","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Jiehui","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1272692383\/Jiehui-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"24572965","body":"the idea of male pregnancy is mainly challenged on two fronts. the biological and ethical issues. if things can be settled biologically, the ethical question arises. i feel that nature knows best and if the physical body is the best way to determine a male and a female, status quo should be kept. it is an acceptable explanation that all beings should be allowed to have their own freedom of thought and choice and therefore a man wanting to experience how pregnancy is like is his personal decision. in general i feel that this is a bad thing because it promotes artificial deviation from mature and it might allow for escalation in ethical acceptance and maybe one day cloning might be widely accepted.
\n
\npros definitely include possible aid to under population, ease on the number of births per person. It also helps us to gain a deeper understanding of human procreation overtime. this might eventually help even females in reproduction in the future. this also aids the gay community with the problem of having children
\n
\nthe most obvious cons to me is the degradation of moral and ethical issues.","dateCreated":"1274773859","smartDate":"May 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"y07hci0279","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/y07hci0279","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"24573507","body":"Pros:
\n-The burden of producing children does not have to lie upon the shoulders of women any more.
\n-Gay couples can are now able to have a "complete" family.
\n-Couples in which the female is unable to conceive are now able to have a child of their own.
\n-Help to relieve nations with low populations
\n
\nCons:
\n-Male human anatomy may lead to complications during conception, childbirth etc.
\n-Religious institutions will oppose this greatly and this might lead to serious consequences
\n-Ethical issues
\n-May degrade the societal family system in which the father works for the family, and mother bears children and takes care of the house.","dateCreated":"1274776718","smartDate":"May 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"samueltan","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/samueltan","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"24574495","body":"Pros:
\n- Women do not have to forsake their career to start a family
\n- Guys who wanted to feel how it's like to give birth, can finally do so
\nOther than that, I do not see what other pros there can be. Some people say it aids in underpopulation, I ask how? The problem is if males are even willing to give birth, and as of now perhaps only a MINORITY of males would be willing to give birth. Relieve nations with low populations? No.
\n
\nCons:
\n- Encourages gay marriages\/ homosexuality
\n- Ethical and religious conflicts
\nReligious people: Come on, if you're not meant to give birth, DON'T force yourself to give birth. Stop going against nature, stop going against God.
\nAtheists: GAME ON!
\n- High costs
\n- High risks
\nThat's the price for trying to be woman.","dateCreated":"1274782399","smartDate":"May 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"joshua_s205","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/joshua_s205","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"24574549","body":"Pros
\n-Males can better understand and empathise with the feelings that females go through during pregnancy. (Better relationships between husbands and wives)
\n-Fathers may love their child more as a result of giving birth to it.
\n-Gay marriages can now have their 'own' child instead of adopting, although an egg from a female is still needed for in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).
\n-Families where the female cannot conceive because of certain factors can now have a biological child instead of an adopted one.
\n
\nCons
\n-Many religious groups will probably object as they would believe that it goes against what is natural.
\n-Since male pregnancies are ectopic pregnancies, this means that the chance of hemorrhages and death of the male during childbirth is much higher than in females, which could lead to more single-parent families\/orphans.
\n-Male pregnancies are expensive compared to female pregnancies, as hormones have to be implanted into the father and IVF has to be carried out before implanting the embryo and placenta into the father.
\n-Performing a Caesarean section during childbirth also has its own risks and can result in complications such as wound infections and hernias.
\n-It could pave the way to even more ethically and morally ambiguous experiments, which could cause more social unrest.
\n-Fathers carrying a child will probably feel more stressed because of all the societal opposition, which could be bad for both the baby and the father.","dateCreated":"1274782623","smartDate":"May 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"limyaochong_3S214","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/limyaochong_3S214","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"24582627","body":"Pros
\n1. Women who are pursuing careers will not have to take maternity leave and carry a huge baby in her womb each time the couple wants a child since both she and her husband can trade pregnancies if they want lots of children.
\n2. Men can experience how does pregnancy and birth feels like, and will understand women better.
\n3. If the woman does not want to have babies because she is scared of giving birth, her husband can do it for her, and it may prevent an ageing population.
\nCons
\n1. If the child is one of the few given birth by a male, the child may be discriminated in school and the society, and this will cause mental damage to the child.
\n2. The male may become a female stuck in a male body due to the presence of female hormones. This may cause more transwoman to be present in the society.
\n3. The man\u2019s life is at risk since a Caesarean Section is dangerous and may result in the unnecessary loss of lives.

\n1) Increase birth rate
\n--In developed countries or maybe even developing countries, a lot of women are career women who are very focused on their jobs so they do not want to marry and give birth to children hence with men pregnancy, the birth rate can be increased as the men can help give birth in place of their wives
\n
\n2) Gay couples can do it too
\n--They can have children of their own and do not need to find surrogate mothers in countries such as India
\n
\n3) Equality
\n--Men will be able to share the difficulties of carrying a child and thus this will be more equal to the women who have been doing the job for them for thousands of years
\n

\n1) Ethical Issues
\n--Most religious groups and races such as Islam may not be willing to accept this as they feel it goes against their religion
